Spiritual Life & Worship

 Spiritual Life & Worship

The Spiritual Life and Worship (SLAW) Committee gives direction to and nourishes the liturgical aspect of parish life. Meetings are one Tuesday per month between August and May.

Acolyte (Server)

Individuals that prepare, set up, and clean up before and after the liturgy. They also assist the priest during the liturgy. Training is provided.

Cantors

The cantor leads the sung worship of the congregation. Vocal music leadership is essential.

Adult Choir

The adult choir is to support the assembly in song. In addition to leading the assembly in song, the choir also learns sacred choral repertoire for sung prayer at liturgies. Everyone high school age or older is invited to become a member of the choir. You do not need to know how to read music to sing in the Adult Choir. Choir rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Berry Hall.

Children’s Choir

Children grades 3-8 lead the congregation in song at various liturgies throughout the year. All children are welcome. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m.

Handbell Choir

The handbell choir adds to the musical accompaniment at liturgies. The choir is composed of 7-11 ringers. The ability to read music is essential. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings.

Instrumentalists

If you have a proficiency in a musical instrument— percussion, guitar, woodwind, string, brass, bass, etc.—please consider sharing your talent in accompanying and enhancing the sung prayer at Mass.

Lector (Reader)

The lector proclaims the readings from the sacred scriptures and the general intercessions to the assembly at the liturgy. Lectors are required to familiarize themselves with the readings before the liturgy begins.

Eucharistic Minister for Liturgy

Baptized and Confirmed members of the parish who, in response to the call of their baptism, wish to assist with the distribution of communion and washing the communion vessels after Mass.

Ministers of Hospitality—Greeters

Greeters welcome everyone to the liturgy. By extending a

warm greeting, they set the tone of hospitality that is part of the parish mission. This ministry is one where all members of the family can participate.

Ministers of Hospitality - Usher

Men and women who gather the collection, enlist volunteers to bring up the gifts, usher the communion procession, clean up the pews and church after liturgy, and help to provide a welcoming atmosphere.

Art & Environment

This Ministry strives to create a visual environment for the Liturgical seasons of the Church year.

Eucharistic Minister (Homebound)

Eucharistic Ministers connect sick and homebound  parishioners who are unable to attend Mass to the church community through shared Eucharist, prayer, conversation, and information. Training/Safeguarding needed.
