Hispanic Ministry

Hispanic Ministry

Mission Statement: We, the Hispanic Ministry Committee, respect and celebrate the diversity of cultures and work to establish fraternal ties in the parish. We promote integration and work together to identify and respond to the needs of the community, in a spirit of evangelization and service, to foster the love of God.

Pastorela

La Pastorela is a play specific to Christmas. It is centered around the shepherds as they traveled to Bethlehem to worship baby Jesus while the devil tries to prevent them from getting there.

Posadas

Posadas commemorates the journey that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus. When they were unable to find lodging in Bethlehem, Joseph and Mary were forced to seek shelter in a stable, where the Christ Child was born.

Via Crucis

One of the most popular traditions among Hispanic Catholics in the United States is the living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. It is a reenactment of Jesus’ final hours and his journey to Calvary as said in the prayers and reflections of the Stations of the Cross.

St. Valentine Dinner Dance

St. Valentine's Day, also known as the Day of Love and Friendship, is a festivity to celebrate love between couples and friends. Around February 14th Hispanic Ministry organizes this celebration to allow our church community to come together and enjoy a dinner, have an opportunity to dance and have fun.

Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Each Sunday a family takes a small statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe home for a week. This devotion is meant to promote family prayer at home.

Three Kings

We celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord on the Sunday closest to January 6th. We share Rosca de Reyes (Three Kings bread) and hot chocolate with everyone who comes to our celebration.

Whitewater 4th of July Festival

The community of St. Patrick Parish has been participating in the Whitewater 4th of July Festival for many years. By having a booth where we can sell Mexican food we fundraise which helps Hispanic Ministry run programs.

Hispanic Committee

The Hispanic Ministry Committee meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. We help the Hispanic Ministry Director guide the ministry. We help organize and run events and programs. We are always looking to help our community grow in faith.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena

We pray the Rosary for 9 days in honor of Our Lady. We begin on the 3rd of December and end December 11th. A family or two from our community will choose a day in which they will lead the prayer and organize a get together after prayer. Mass is celebrated each day before the Rosary.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration

We celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12th with mañanitas (songs) at midnight and share Mexican pastries afterwards. We also celebrate with a Mass. Many in our

community participate in a procession from St. Joseph church in Fort Atkinson to St. Patrick.
